I got this idea. Call me crazy, but I think it’ll work.
Rugby is a fun game to play, right? You are pretty free to do most things in the game; run, pass, kick, hit. And you do it with fourteen of your best friends. If things don’t go so well you start asking some questions. You talk to your teammates and coaches, share your experiences, come up with some ideas and a plan, then go back at it. That sort of learning process teaches you a lot about how to survive in the world. It can’t be done alone and we wouldn’t enjoy it if you could.
What if we did the same off the field? Why not share our experiences and come up with some ideas? If it’s working for your teammate, maybe it’ll work for you. Let’s create a positive learning environment not just for the individual players, but for the coaches, administrators, supporters. Let’s create programs that can learn from other programs. Let’s advance the game by working together.
That’s the idea here. We’d like to create a forum where ideas are welcome, stories are told, and experiences are shared. We are going to write about some good rugby people doing good things to grow the game. Feel free to comment and share your own ideas. Better yet, take what you find here and try to implement it elsewhere. While you are at it, tweak it and let us know how it goes. The more creativity and communication the better.
Here goes, time to kickoff.
