Weekly Rugby Commons I: Should domestic competitive advantage be a priority in US rugby?

Because the stated purpose of this site is to provide a common space for passionate American rugby players, coaches, and supporters to discuss the future of the game in this country, we wanted to make sure to offer a weekly open thread based on a question of wide relevance and interest. We encourage all comers to share their thoughts and, in doing so, to join in on and invigorate the conversations on this site.

With this in mind, this week’s open question is this: Given the mandate of GrowRugby, should American teams strive to “hoard” their competitive advantages (e.g. keep effective drills, clever new plays, promising original philosophies, and novel fitness regimes private within the confines of one specific club), or should we be encouraging a free sharing of ideas between teams? If you have an opinion one way or the other on this question, why do you feel this way? Do you see any connection between your response to this question and your philosophy about American rugby more generally?

Thank you for visiting the site! We look forward to your insights and ideas.
